The nautical base

Nautical base and sailing school

The Éric Tabarly nautical base, located in the heart of the Saint-Denis-d’Oléron marina, is home to the Yacht Club d’Oléron (YCO), an FFV-certified sailing school and 1ʳᵉ sailing school in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. With over 1,200 trainees a year, the YCO is a key player in the nautical life of the port of Saint-Denis-d’Oléron.

Activities

Suggested activities

The YCO offers a wide range of workshops and courses accessible to all ages from 5 upwards:

Catamaran, windsurfing, dinghy (optimist), liveaboard
Boating license
Private lessons and equipment rental
Free sailing

Weekly courses are also organized on Wednesdays and Saturdays for residents: optimist for children, windsurfing and liveaboard training for teenagers.

Infrastructure and assets

The nautical base benefits from an exceptional stretch of water: the Baie de la Boirie, sheltered for beginners, with direct access to sport sailing areas at the end of the bay. The site has a boat parking area, direct access to the water and is supervised by state-certified instructors.
